Our Mission
A massive milestone
In ten years from now, the UN projects the elderly (aged 80+) will officially outnumber infants worldwide for the first time. There will be 265 million people aged 80 or older.
Why it matters
The fastest growing demographic is people aged 65 or older. UN estimates show this group almost doubling from 850 million today to 1.5 billion by 2050, caused by increased life expectancy and declining fertility rates—this is people aged 40 or older today. The 65 or older group will reach 2.2 billion before 2080 when older adults will outnumber children under 18 for the first time—this is people aged 16 or older today. Even rapidly growing countries will experience a rise in elderly population over the next 30 years. One of the biggest challenges for governments around the world will be providing healthcare for this aging population.
